Tiger Studios Grand Opening Celebration

Ramona Convent recently celebrated a newly renovated space named “Tiger Studios” – formerly a computer lab and technology space near their Library. For several years, Tiger Network Television (TNT) students have broadcast the daily announcements from a small storage space in the Library building. Now, thanks to collaboration with the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory (BHAC) and a donation from a generous benefactor, a dream has become a reality. Revamped from ceiling to floor, the studio now includes a professional TV news desk, state-of-the-art lighting, cameras, sound equipment, a green screen, and a larger space for the ever-popular RaRa (formerly Ramona Radio) podcasts. Alhambra Mayor Katherine Lee attended the ceremony and presented a congratulatory proclamation from the city. This was also an occasion to honor Carmelita Sanchez-Ramirez, Ramona Parent and Executive Director of the BHAC, for her work in providing equipment and a team of instructors to work with our students. Ramona Convent Board Member and Alumna, Marla Provencio ’74, honorably represented her friend and mentor, Stu Brower, from whose estate Ramona received a large donation for our broadcasting and theatre program. Plaques honoring Carmelita and Stu, along with the proclamation from the city, will be hung in Tiger Studios for all to see.
